I've tried several times but the iPod doesn't seem to want to work with iTunes.

First, the battery was completely dead and it wouldn't turn on. So I took care of that. Then I found out it was "corrupt" so I told iTunes to restore it. No effect except I needed to reselect a language on the iPod. However, connecting to iTunes still fails; the program says it's still corrupt.

The iPod is a 5th (5.5) gen video with 30GB. - another thing, when connected, iTunes doesn't know how much capacity is on the iPod.

Finally, Windows wants to format the iPod and calls it a "removable disk" in My Computer.

Hello there, do you have the latest iTunes version? since you're trying to restore, why don't you format your iPod through the PC and then run iTunes to see if it comes back to life?

I tried formatting with Windows, but for whatever reason, it never works.

all i know is that the iPod appears to have a problem syncing with iTunes. iTunes THINKS that the iPod is corrupted, though I can access the iPod, scroll and all, and even play the four pre-loaded games.

I have restored the ipod several times. I tried to format it using Windows but that failed every time.

Any ideas? If only there was music on the iPod I could use it. The only problem seems to be communication.
