IRC and Event Viewer Logs Indicating Network Issue?

I'm currently having an issue with my Win7 64 bit Pro computer.

Transfers to other computers on my network is slow and sometimes the icon in the taskbar shows that it's disconnecting and reconnecting. I've also noticed that uploads to the internet are either slow or just never complete as the network keeps resetting.

I've also noticed in the System Event Viewer, for the past hour:

• 355 Service Event Errors ID # 7036 (4439 occurrences in 7 days); and
• 177 for Service Event Error ID 7042 (1165 occurrences in 7 days)

ID 7036 messages alternate between:


The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service entered the stopped state.
and
The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service entered the running state.


ID 7042 has messages reading:

The TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service was successfully sent a stop control.
The reason specified was: 0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)]

The other event message which occurs a lot is event 8033 which has 207 occurrances over the past 7 days. It reads:

The browser has forced an election on network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{180E5F8A-7005-4484-A0D4-553607321AC0} because a master browser was stopped.

Does the screenshot here http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...x_1412/IRC.jpg indicate a conflict on IRQ 16. If so, would that have an impact on these disconnections.


I believe this might be the underlying cause of my slow transfer speeds to my NAS box getting worse as time went on. When I first installed Windows 7, I was getting very good transfer speeds with the occasional slow one, but now I rarely get a good connection on my LAN.


I've installed the latest Realtek Network drivers from the Gigabyte (motherboard) site plus disabled the unused NIC connector.

Nvidia chipset?
(if it is, you need to install the drivers)

if not, other options are to set a static IP instead of DHCP and / or 'force' the drivers to be installed instead of using the ms ones for the nic

When you talk of the chipset, is this the Mobo chipset or the NIC card? If it's the mobo, then I have the Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3 ( http://tinyurl.com/3oyb5p ) so I guess the answer is Yes?? About 5 days ago I downloaded all the updated drivers (chipset, audio, Lan, etc) from Gigabyte and installed them (other than the audio).

The IP address normally is set to 192.168.1.1 but a few days ago, realised it was set to Auto as there was a conflict with my network media player when I turned it on.

I've tried to change the IRQ but it has a tick in "Use Automatic Settings" and this is greyed out so I can't remove the tick.
I've tried booting into safe mode but can't change the IRQ there.
How do I do it?


For a while there I had no LAN or internet access but it eventually worked (partly). Icon is showing a yellow exclamation mark and the network map shows "This Computer" to "Network" ok but from "Network" to "Internet" is out. The weird thing is that I can browse the internet, download emails and view network drives on my LAN.
The other thing that is cheesing me off is that it says IPv6 isn't enabled and therefore I can't join a work group but the tick is enabled under that NIC's properties.

OK so it's an Intel chipset (the motherboard chipset) ...so yes, it seems you have the drivers installed.

you dont have to change the IRQ (your bios sets them auto on each boot and chances are you wont be able to assign anyway)

and i finally got to see your screenshot - that's not an issue - IRQ sharing is OK.

0x40030011 [Operating System: Network Connectivity (Planned)] is what i couldnt figure out.

if you type 'ipconfig /all', you should see the ipv6 stuff enabled.

i think i may have a fix - manually set the speed and duplex on your card to be say 100 Full Duplex - read on another forum how that resolved some issues for them

Hi,

I have tried that a few weeks back went I started getting very slow LAN transfers between my Win7 computer and my WinXP and Thecus N2200 NAS box.

I'm now at the point of waiting until I have about 15 TV shows on my Win7 computer and then connecting it to the WinXP computer via Cross Over cable, transferring to WinXP, reconnecting LAN cables to both boxes and transferring from WinXP to N2200. I have to do this to watch my TV shows remotely as my Zensonic/Ziova Network Media Players can see my Win7 computer but say there's no shares on it. (That's a whole other problem).

I'm at work at the moment, but I'll try setting the speed again (if it's not already been changed from "Auto Negotiate") when I'm home.
