Hello, i have encountered a problem with my laptop. On booting the system i get a blue screen reading IRQL_not_less_or_equal...(says somthing about rebooting)
***STOP:0x000000D1 (0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFE1, 0x0000000000000002, 0x0000000000000001, 0xFFFFF880106F783)
***iastor.sys - adress FFFFF8800106F783 base at FFFFF8800101D000, Datestamp 4ad4c3dc
All attempts at starting the system in safe mode have resulted in the same blue screen.
I bought the laptop about 1.5 yrs ago and have had no similar problems in that time. The laptop came with windows 7 home premium 64bit pre-installed.

other specs: (if relevant)
Alienware M15x
BIOS Version: A05
EC version: 1.06
CPU: Intel core i7 (2.66 GHz)

(i have no idea if this is helpful but the error occurred the next time i booted the laptop after using a new pair of plantronics headset for the 1st time, also about 100GB of recording on FRAPS a few days previously, if this would cause hard drive problems?)

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Thank you for the reply,
i have managed to complete this step by booting the system in safe mode with command prompt, any other attempt to start the system (safe mode or normally) logging in results in the original error message, the blue screen and a reboot. for this reason im having difficulty accessing \windows\minidump any advice on how to access this folder in my predicament would be very helpful.
(also, i have noticed if i start in normal mode if i log into my own account i instantly receive the blue screen, however, when logging into another account, i get about 10 seconds at the desktop then receive BSOD with a system_service_exception) and when in command propt, if i try chkdsk i get the BSOD, would this hint a heard drive problem? Please download TDSSKiller and run it in Safe Mode to rule out a recent and prevalent RootKit.

PLEASE HELP
