Looks like the latest ATI driver is the cause of your problems. Try rolling back to a previous driver version.
Or to perform a clean install of the previous drivers:
------------------------
Reduce the start-up items, Antivirus software is basically whats required.
------------------------
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop. Please uninstall the software below with Revo Uninstaller free.

and install Revo Uninstaller.
  • Opt for "Advanced Mode" and uninstall the software (also delete the leftover registry entries).

------------------------
Daemon Tools (also Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although we have seen dtsoftbus01.sys blamed on several occasions). Please uninstall Daemon Tools.
As an alternative:

Make scans with these tools -
------------------------
Run the System File Checker that scans the of all protected Windows 7 system files and replaces incorrect corrupted, changed/modified, or damaged versions with the correct versions if possible:
  • Click on the :orb:
  • Type CMD on Search
  • Left click and Run as Administrator
  • Type SFC /scannow - read here
Run Disk Check on your Hard Drive for file system errors and bad sectors on it - read here

NOT SURE WHAT TO DO. atikmdag.sys does exist in C:\Windows\winsxs and in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository, but can't see where it's actually being used. Opened device manager and don't see any ATI devices - that is graphics/display, isn't it? Under display adapters I see Intel(R) HD Graphics, no driver to roll-back to. I have a laptop that has an ATI graphics driver, and it says so. So I am very confused. This seems to be responding to the x0000000a bugcheck error. What about all the x0000003b bugcheck errors? Or the x124, which is hardware related.

Tware, If you would, please fill out your system specs as completely as possible. This will help you (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html) This info helps us to help you. If you want to see what we are looking for, at the bottom left of this post, click on My system specs and you will see mine.

Please go into bios and see what your sata controller is set to and set optimized defaults (usually F5 but depends on what board you have), set your sata controller to what it is right now, set your ram frequency, timings and voltage to the manufacturers specs. Set your boot order to DVD/CD as 1st boot device and your hard drive to 2nd boot device, save and exit.

Also please download Driver sweeper, and CPUz, if you don't already have it. Install CPUz and please post screenshots of the CPU, mainboard, memory and SPD tab. On the SPD tab if it shows up blank, in the upper left corner select Dimm 2 from the dropdown list. (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/9733-screenshots-files-upload-post-seven-forums.html)

EDIT: When you install the programs, watch for the unwanted 'add ons' they usually want to install with it. Just uncheck the boxes for them and opt out.

tware, All of the above look in good order. My only question is this. In your system specs it says you have a desktop computer. The CPU and hard drive listed are for a laptop, unless I am mistaken. Could you give us the model numbers for your computer please. We can look the model numbers up and find a lot of info for your computer from Dell. We have some Dell Reps here on SF that could possibly help. Is your computer still under warranty with Dell?

Most of the info from the screenshots, look in good order, with the possible exception of CPU frequency, but that could be a laptop reading, as desktops will only idle down to 1600MHz at idle. Yours idles at X8 where desktop models never go below X 16. Thanks.

Also, is there any specific activity you do that causes the BSODs? Is it normally when you are using a certain program or application?

It is a laptop, Latitude 3330. Don't know if under dell warranty or not, will have to ask. Nothing specific triggers the BSODs, I've encountered 3 of them myself and they are all just random activity. A mouse click on a scroll bar, one maybe even while idle, the last one during my initial file upload to this forum of the dump file info.

If you would, please re run the SF Diagnostic tool again. Also, if you would, boot into safe mode and open Driver Sweeper. Below, you will find a screenshot of what the window will look like. Select ATI Display and only that. Click on Analyse and then click on clean. It will ask you to reboot. Do so and boot into normal mode. That should rid you of any AMD Display driver you have on the machine. Next, go into BIOS and look at the storage configuration and see what yours is set to (AHCI, IDE or Raid) Also, look at the ram (Dram) configuration. I doubt you have many options there. Then set optimized defaults in your bios. Then go check and make sure the storage configuration is set to what it was when you looked and set the ram the way it was when you looked. Go to Boot options and set the DVD/CD as 1st boot device and the Hard drive as 2nd boot device, save and exit. See if it runs any better then.

You should also have a Dell diagnostics installed on the computer. Run them and see if they show any errors, but do the bios reset first.

Okay, looks like I finally found which link actually downloads Drive Sweeper as a stand-alone exe. Geez their page is very misleading, most users would have trouble getting the actual file on their pc.

With driver sweeper, it should not install the add ons if you de selected them in the install process. I use it every time I change graphics drivers. Good to know you are an IT person. That means you know more than I do. The difficult part is the hours of testing to run down the faulty hardware. If it is drivers, that can easily be fixed. The easiest way to fix drivers is a clean install. It will save hours of running down which program or driver is causing the problem. But, I'm sure you already know that. If you back up personal info to an external hard drive, download drivers and the installers for the programs you want to install along with the activation numbers, A clean install is rather quick. Hardware takes a lot of hours of testing. But, the 124 BSOD is a general hardware fault, not very specific. It also does not necessarially mean you have bad hardware. A bad bios setting can cause it or a lack of voltage to the CPU will give you a 124 error. A bad ram stick will do the same and give other error codes also. For example, if a ram error causes the graphics driver to crash, the computer will give you a graphics driver error because that's the driver that crashed. When in reality it was the ram at fault, not the GPU driver. That's why it is so hard to run it down and so tricky reading the bug reports.

Okay, looks like I finally found which link actually downloads Drive Sweeper as a stand-alone exe. Geez their page is very misleading, most users would have trouble getting the actual file on their pc.

The price of free programs. They make money from advertisments of other programs, and sometimes it's hard to find which is the actual program. It will still try to download other unwanted programs, but you can uncheck those options to keep it from doing that. It can be very difficult with the free programs.

OK, just skip that part then. I'm not sure why you get those errors then unless there is some program that is looking for an AMD driver and crashes because there is none. That's just a guess.

BTW< I assume you deleted the program that had the Trojan in it. I hope so. I would also complain to the site you downloaded it from, Guru 3D I suspect. They are a pretty reputable site. But, sometimes even the reputable sites don't check their advertisors.

Yes I did all I could and gave the laptop back, she will let me know if it happens again. Thanks for all your help. Did report trojan to guru3d. Realized that the ads that easily identify advertiser download links were being blocked by my ad-blocker, hence my problems finding the correct link. I just thought the utilities showing up in the installer were the paid ad-ons to drive sweeper! Geez... big time brain farting
