I installed the Nvidia GeForce experience software. Computer began going to sleep while watching TV on it. I saw CPU temp was at 184-6 F. I uninstalled that software (but did not restart after) but that didn't help. Then did a restart. Temp just now goes shows 187-9 but so far has not been going to sleep.

Could the restart have completed the uninstall and that is why not sleeping now?

But is that 187-9 degrees too hot? This is a Dell XPS One 2710 running Win 7.

Is there a way to determine if the fan(s) are operating properly. Heat is being expelled so some must be working.

Speccy software shows

2047MB NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M (Dell) 157 °F

A little worried about CPU temp that gets up to 180 F when watching TV via Media Center. 140-150 F normally.
It's not quite hot enough to cause damage to most Intel chips, but you have a serious heat problem by the sound of it.

Being that it is an all in one, it will probably run a little hotter than a standard PC. It is probably clogged with dust and that is causing the temps to rise. I would take the machine to a service center in your area for a good cleaning. Taking it apart and cleaning it yourself might cause some damage that might be expensive to repair. Much like a laptop, the ports in the machine can become clogged up. At the very least, check the intake ports for dust build up, and blow them out with some compressed air.

Still wonder about "Could the restart have completed the uninstall and that is why not sleeping now?" There was no instruction to restart after the uninstall. Perhaps that should always be the case. Anyway, seems to be OK now. Thanks for your help.
