Is 802.11N backwards compatible with 802.11G?

I'm looking for a new router. I have an Xbox 360, laptop, Wii, and Blu-Ray player that access the internet via Wi-Fi. The only one that can use N is the Blu-Ray player. If I get an N router will I be able to use the N router and connect to G adapters?

Yes most certainly you will be able too as mostly all routers with wireless N also support wireless G.

The basic answer is yes, though you may want to check with your manufacturer of your chosen router as to if all devices will run at the lowest speed or if they will run independently of each other. This would depend on the firmware of the router so it's worth a check.

Also as the N standard has just been ratified try to ensure that the router you choose meets the specification rather that the "draft" spec - should be a non issue but again worth checking
