Is an antivirus program required??????

I am running Microsoft Security essentials on my lappie.

When I generate a System Health Report (Control Panel > Performance Information and Tools > Advanced Tools > Generate a system health report), the following message appears.



Does this mean that apart from MSE, an antivirus program is required?

No - Just sometimes Windows Doesn't Recognise your Anti-Virus

It will go away sometimes and could come back - If you are sure you have an Anti- Virus installed then Set windows to not moniter your Anti-virus Status

Do you mean to say Microsoft Windows 7 itself does not recognise its own baby MSE as an antivirus program? I am sure I have MSE installed.

System Health report has done that since the beginning of Windows 7. Think even in Vista. Avast, MSE. Don't worry about it, if you have it installed, then it's installed and monitoring.

Yeah, I do too. I don't know why it says that, it said that in vista too, as long as you know.

I had the same issue and i had to hide the notification to fix it.

If you want to double check the status of MSE go to control panel > action center > security.

Thanks to Airbot and others. That was quite an info. ( Vista - i discarded it after using it just for a few days. So I never knew it was present in Vista too.)
