Is Auto Correction Intellectual Property theft?

That's my question. If you using an app you know Auto Corrects and you enabled it, that's fine, but what about then if you post something to a system that does not advertise it has the feature and your post, your thoughts, your intentions, come out mangled and does not represent your original thought true to form?

To me that's the same as stealing.

It happened a few minutes ago while posting on a blog for Macs. It was a tutorial on how to install Windows 7 on a Mac. No where on the site does it say such an auto correct system is in use.

My comment was that this encourages piracy of Windows 7 - most of the Mac users reading the blog use a 30 dollar Snow Leopard that already does everything they need.

(yes folks, Apple operating systems are really that cheap compared to 200 for Windows 7, this is because for years Apple has made it's money on the hardware, so they sell the OS cheap)

I do not see most Mac users going out then and spending 200 dollars just to run a copy of Windows 7 on their Macs. I feel this must encourage piracy.

Anyway, I noticed when it posted, many of the words were changed to more "politically correct" words, for instance "wrong" was changed to Incorrect and "big" was changed to Huge. There were many more. I do not feel the auto corrects choice of words accurately represents my thoughts and in fact it demeans and undermines my message. Isn't this the same as stealing my original intellectual property?

Stealing implies taking the idea and trying to USE it. What happened there was just censorship to the extreme. Also, Apple does not sell the OS alone. They sell it with the hardware for WAY more than it should be. I can get a quad core (Intel Core i7 QM) laptop for about $900 as a PC. With Apple? More like $1799+!

I do get your point on it's not theft unless they have intent to use it. Good point. It really rubbed me the wrong (Incorrect) way, Big (Huge) Time. LOL

It looks to me like Apple does sell just the OS by itself:

Which is fine... except that (according to the EULA) you are only allowed to run the OS on Mac's, which you pay at least 50% more for, despite having the same hardware. It's a false economy really, as it is just an upgrade. Overall, you are still paying more with a Mac, than with an upgrade copy of Windows on the same hardware.

It's not like the editor on a forum, this blog comment apparatus did not have a preview before you submit function.

I do not own what was posted If words were changed that is not my own. Lets say the thing auto corrected some words that turned out to suggest something slanderous and I got in trouble for it. As this was not my intention and was done by the machine, i could not be held accountable for it.
