I didn't realize that bluetooth services on Windows are that bad and unstable.

Windows 7 Pro SP1 w/Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 WiFi Card

Huawei Ascend XT (H1611) Phone

Both bluetooth paired but cannot transfer files

Transfer files from phone to PC - Reply from phone: 'connection unsuccessful'

Transfer files from PC to phone - Reply from PC: 'Unable to connect to remote device'

I'm considering getting a Bluetooth Headphone for music but would it work with Windows?

Am I better off just getting a USB Bluetooth Adapter?

Is there a fix for this?

Thanks!

Even with an adapter, getting Bluetooth to work with Win 7 can be a study in frustration.

My MOBO doesn't have native Bluetooth so I bought one adapter and couldn't get it to download pictures from my flip phone. Even the manufacturer couldn't figure out how to get it to work and blamed it on hardware incompatibility.

Earlier this week, I spent two hours fooling around with another adapter before I finally got my flip phone to pair up with my camera and download pictures, mostly by dumb luck since I couldn't find any directions online that would work (or even remotely referred to any settings on my computer; one so called expert even claimed it couldn't be done). Unfortunately, the settings didn't stick. I spent three hours the next day fooling around with it until I finally got the settings to stick.

If you decide to get an adapter, get one that will use Win 7s own drivers. When you plug in the adapter, Windows will download and install the driver. Then you have to find the app for it (i found it at "C:\Program Files\WIDCOMM\Bluetooth Software\BTTray.exe") and enable the tray icon. You will use this to turn the adapter on and off.

Then you need to find and run C:\Windows\System32\fsquirt.exe (fsquirt? Seriously? What were you thinking—or smoking—Microsoft?). Then you need to turn on the Bluetooh on your device and pair it with the computer. Then you can use "The Squirt" to transfer the files. By then, the prompts should be easy to follow. You'll need to follow the directions that came with your phone.

I found I needed to go into the properties of "The Squirt" (let's keep the F word out of this no matter how appropriate it is) and BTTray to open as an administrator to get the settings to "stick".

At least, that's how I think I did it. it was confusing and frastrating as all get out

Found fsquirt, pinned it to my taskbar, clicked it, selected receive and it worked like a charm!

Thank you so much!

One last thing - to send a 6MB file took around 45 seconds. Any way to speed it up (other than to take smaller pictures)?
