Google Chrome browser itself is not open source.

However its counterpart "Chromium" (commonly known as Nightly Builds) are open source. Are you looking for the source code?

I wouldn't call them a champion of open source, rather a leader. Just as Canonical (where Ubuntu is concerned).

Correct, also Developer Builds of Google Chrome are bundled with Flash Player, which is also not open source.
