Hi all
Is it possible to prevent a program from being installed?
On my mother's computer, google chrome installs at regular intervals. I guess it's sneaks in via Avast update.
Can I block it from being installed?

It's a Asus X53E Win7 home premium x64
Avast antivirus
Firefox web browser.
Office 2010

Regards Marie

I guess you would have to put an exception somewhere for that to happen. samuria is probably the best person to answer this! I will PM him for you.

She does not use chrome, I have installed firefox on her computer.
I have uninstalled chrome 8 times the last two years, that is why I wonder how I can prevent it from being installed again.

No it doesn't
I uninstall everything with the name association "google" every time I uninstall google chrome. I also deletes all google folders on the computer so noting will be left.

I suspect that she misses ticking of Google Chrome install when avast makes a major update.
Avast has Google chrome pre ticked during installation and some updates.

So to block the program from being installed should be the best protection/solution.. but how..

Hi Marie,

Dont use Avast myself
But a lot of programs have 2 install modes Standard or Custom
The Custom install gives a choice of whether to include the "bloat" google in your case.

You could try Unistalling Avast via SAFE MODE, with thier uninstaller
then re-installing using the custom mode preferences
Alternatively run another AV
I use Bitdefender free its extremely light on resources and NO bloatware, just requires registration.
