Hey guys,

I have a westerndigital 120 GB laptop harddrive with only 1 partition and I had purchased it like 7 years ago and never formated whole drive. But I have deleted folders many times and tried to recover from recuva and easeus but not found all folders which had (images/audio/videos). Is it possible to get them back as I never formated whole drive.

Regards.

Why did you format a drive with a single partition without formatting the "whole drive"? Did you deliberately make a single partition that was less than 120 GB--for some reason?

If this partition has been in use for years, the chances of recovering all files that were on it at one time or another is near zero. The location on the partition where file X once was has quite probably been over-written since it was deleted, making the recovery extremely unlikely.

Just deleted folders time to time when space is required.

Deleting folders has no relation to formatting or whether or not you formatted the whole drive.

If you deleted folders or files over the years, the chances of recovering them diminish over time, as I stated in my last paragraph above.

If you deleted them yesterday, that's one thing. Those files may well be recovered.

If you deleted them last month, you have some chance.

If you deleted them in 2013, you have a smaller chance, etc.

All you can do is try, with the recovery program of your choice. If you fail, your choices are to hire a data recovery firm for maybe $1000 plus or get the CIA to look at your hard drive. They may or may not succeed.

Okay, lets wait for other user replies.

I agree with ignatzatsonic, the chances of retrieving old files are next to nil, especially if they are old and you keep running into space issues. Generally, a deleted file space is left intact UNTIL you're forced to overwrite the physical space when available space is no longer available. Normally, the chance of a file recovery is good if you immediately attempt a recovery with a program like Recuva. Even the CIA couldn't recover complete data if the physical bit space was overwritten several times, and a fragmented drive make things that much worse.
