Solved Is it Possible to Set a Personal Reminder Months in Advance ???

This may be a very beginner question and something everyone else has probably used so much that they take it for granted; but, it has just occurred to me that surely, among it's many other conveniences that I forever keep discovering, my Windows 7 Pro surely has this ability.
I don't have a "smart Phone", most likely never will have one; I truck all over the United States and have found no need for one yet.
What I do have is a very simple Tracfone; I buy a 90-day card about every 120 days to keep the service alive and maybe use 10 minutes each period.

What would be handy for me is to be able to set my computer to provide me with a noticeable, maybe even a bit nagging, yet not obtrusive to whatever I may be doing, NOTICE that it is time to buy another phone card.

The phone itself will definitely alert me that it is time; but, it can't very well do so when it hasn't been turned on in weeks.

Windows 7 never came with a reminder/calendar program as a default, they were added in various packs , now not easy to find ...

there are a few 3rd party apps out there some paid some free, take a look at Desktop-Reminder - a freeware task planner for Windows as one of many that should give you what you need

I will have to make a note to get an appointment book; I tried them a few times several years ago, but I would end up with about 361 pages with nothing at all and forget to check them on the four days that did matter.

The post-it on the calendar is a pretty good idea; I had always before thought of the calendar as a place to record things that had already happened as opposed to things yet to come; I guess it could work equally well in both directions.

It just depends what you're in the habit of doing. I don't rely on my computers for everything, and I don't carry a smart-phone, but my little appointment book is always with me, and a calendar is always on my office (part of my living room) wall.

I do have an alarm program in my machine, reminding me of appointments the same day, because I tend to get lost in my computer for hours, but it can't be set more than a week in advance. Free Alarm Clock for Windows.

I went ahead and installed Desktop Reminder - the program that Barman58 provided the link for.
I haven't quite got it figured out yet, but it seems to have the capabilities I need to better help me keep track of things that are easy to let slip by.

I have to say that I have Fully embraced the "modern" ways.

I have a smartphone that is always within reach and always on. the calendar, Reminders, todo list, birthdays, work & personal appointments are all in there and alarms set for the urgent items. all this information is duplicated live in my computer, (or in reality computers - Windows and Android tablets ), backed up to the cloud, and locally and I also have voice operated devices scattered around home that are tied into the same information but also allow me to add and edit items by talking to the devices.

I even have the data in my phone set to transfer the information into the media system in the Car.

I am involved in the IT industry so this setup is to be expected or at least not a surprise, now I've said this here in public, I fear I can have no excuse for ever being late for anything again

Incidentally I had a short power cut around an hour ago, the system protection proved itself, the main PC, monitor, internet connection, a light and my landline phone (useful incase of a medical emergency, unlike a cell phone the Emergency operator has my location even if I cannot speak properly)
