Hee hee!

Been running Win7 about three weeks now. I'm proud to say my obsessive effort to make it look like XP running Classic options is nearly complete! :cool: The icing on the cake was Ivo Beltchev's fabulous Classic Shell program:

Now, mind you, I would be willing to experiment with Aero. But, even though I've looked at the tutorial here, I can't get the background in Windows Explorer windows to be anything but harsh, glaring, blinding white - too painful for my aged eyes.

The only problem I had was withthe Recent Documents - always seems blank:

But, Ivo quickly helped - my Task Bar props was set to not track Recent!

Congrats on getting it the way that you want it...however I truly feel that the new start menus and interfaces are a step in the right direction and the old look is just...old!

heh .. well, I do dual-boot.:p

Seriously, I find the classic shell more productive - less clicking and scrolling. IMHO, the W2K look and feel was the Zenith of Windows Design.

And I would like to see if I like Aero themes - still can't figure out how to get rid of the blinding white backgrounds in Windows Explorer.

I did love the old layout i.e. Win 98SE etc. However I also think that the Windows 7 experience is progress and in MY view much better. Each to their own of course.

totally agree. And you don't "just run xp" because Win7 is a far better OS when measured by the functions that are not a part of the look and feel. There is the OS and what it does, and the OS and how it interacts with you.
