I am using Windows 7 as my operating System for years now.And i do not plan to switch to Windows 8 , as Windows 7 is very stable.Although , i do see some modern games (like say , Resident Evil 3 Remake) having DX 12 as an option which i obviously can not try since i am using Windows 7.

So,i had an issue with a game suddenly stopping to a dead end a few years ago whilst using Windows 8 or Windows 10 (i can't remember exactly) And that same game ran flawlessly on Windows 7.

Now , should i upgrade to Windows 10 for a better Graphics upgrade or getting DX 12.

I'm not on the up and up with graphics stuff, but as far as I know, a DirectX version improves gaming graphics, and if the minimum game requirements say DX12, then you probably need DX12.

I've played both RE2 Remake and DOOM Eternal on Win7 and Win10 PCs, the latter with DX12 and TBH, there was no difference as far as I could feel, and both PCs had very similar specs (One had an OCd Intel i7-7700K, the other a Ryzen 7 2700X w/o OC, all else was the same).

I've also heard in quite a few places (particularly, the PCMR Reddit) that DX12 isn't very good as a whole (it's extremely unfriendly to older games; as in, anything 2009 or older), and many see it as just another of Microsoft's strong-arming tactics to force gamers into updating to Win10.

Also, I don't know of any DX12-only games so far, but I've never been a very "Triple-A Gamer", so maybe there's more I just don't know about.
