Is my Nvidia GeForce 8500GT going bad?

The last 3 days when I booted up my display showed 800x600 so I went to Device Manager and saw yield sign under Display Adapter.
Uninstalled it and did a recovery to earlier date which worked. Now today when I signed in it did the same thing.
Showed a code 43 error.
Is the card going bye bye?
Any and all solutions appreciated.

It definitely is. Screen Artifact isn't the only symptoms of a card getting dead.

Think I solved it.
I restored it to a more current date then went to NVidia official driver site and downloaded the latest version of NVidia GeForce 8500 and restarted.
So far it is working just fine will know more tomorrow on how successful it worked.

A GFX TEAM member is running with a 8500GT? [puzzled look granted]

If it doesn't reoccur after several reboots and left running a day or two, then I agree you are probably good for now.

I also wonder when the last time you pulled that card and checked it's fan/heatsink and contacts for cleanliness factor, and the slot it goes into on the motherboard, also.

All temps are normal but I think the NVidia GeForce 8500 is ready for retirement center.
If you need more info on my system let me know as then I can figure out what should I replace it with.

Limitation on new card factor probably Power Supply which isn't listed.

DDR2 RAM (DDR3 is the standard now), 6 gigs of it, says dual channel, but I don't recall 3gig sticks, so if it's using 3 2 gig sticks, your probably taking a performance hit from that alone, for not having 4 * 2 since it would then not be dual channel, manufacturers did weird things on bulk systems back in the day. :eek:

I would dump that system for a new one .
That one is probably about 10 years old.
You will be glad you did.
