Also choose one large enough where it is only pulling 60% of it's maximum. It allows for aging. expansion and does not overwork the PSU so it will run cooler and last longer.

BTW, that PSU is an excellent choice. It is the same PSU I have, I just have the HX750.

Newegg said:
The cables are extra long, to work in the largest tower. They are fully sleeved for easy routing and bundling. There are six 8-pin PCIe power connectors so you can build up a CrossFire or SLI system using today’s high end video cards. There are also 12 SATA and 12 Molex connectors so you can connect multiple drives and peripherals.
Good choice on the PSU, I have the HX650W and I'm considering going to the 750W. Newegg offten just uses whatever the maker has on their site.

Gary, I have both the HX650 and the HX750, if you go with the 750 you will not be sorry.
In kalelreturns case, you did the PSU calculations, do you think 850 is big enough?

how did you get 950-1000w? I thought 850w would be plenty. Would 950-1000w give me some room for a video card upgrade?

Yes it will. It will also make your system cooler and not overwork the PSU, thus making it last longer.

another thing I forgot to mention was that sometimes when I put my computer to sleep, and try to wake it up, it wont display anything, the computer wakes up, but nothing sounds like its actually waking up, if that makes sense. its pretty much the same and when I try to turn my computer on, it will turn on, but doesn't boot. Also, when I woke my computer up today it showed my RAM usage at 95% and my computer was really slow, I looked at the task manager, but it just showed the majority of the usage on whatever program I tried to pull up. Even with all programs closed, it showed task manager at 95% usage.

Ok got another BSOD

072011-18049-01.dmp.zip

its pointing to my memory again. I ran memtest again with just one stick of RAM overnight and found no problems. I will test the last stick tonight. Looks like a software problem? Also Last night my computer was crashing really bad and wouldn't boot, so I looked in my computer and I noticed that the 4 pin connector on the 20+4 pin cable wasn't fully connected to the motherboard. it turns out that it was inserted incorrectly. I didn't noticed that it had little notches on it indicating which way it was suppose to be inserted. My bad. however, after I fixed that, it still wouldn't start up. So that could have been part of the problem.

I'm trying to get some help. We need someone from the BSOD squad who can read dump files. You should look at this thread about posting BSOD's, they will probably want this info too.

Hello,

Before going off to buy a new PSU, you might try removing one of the video cards. That will significantly decrease the power load on the PSU, and may confirm or cast doubt upon the theory.

I'd suspect you are seeing a hardware problem, though there are a few things that stand out to me. First off, SP1 should be installed. See here: Learn how to install Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

The 2005 version of ASACPI.SYS is running on your system, which has known issues with the latest versions of Windows. You might install the ATK0110 driver from the Utilities section here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download M4A78T-E

PC Tools has also had some serious trouble with Windows. While I'm not against the idea of you removing the program (I dislike it strongly myself!), I don't see the need in asking you to do so until Driver Verifier blames it. Try running that tool as described here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Finally, run each of the three Prime95 tests: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-cpu-stress-test-prime95.html

I have been running 1 video card, but have still had problems. verifier is enabled. installed SP1, but when it rebooted, it crashed, and I booted it again, and my cpu meter went crazy, its now jumping from 40%-80% on idle. then I got the BSOD after I tried to install the ASUS utility. Also the prime95 download links on the site don't work, and I couldn't find any other ones.

It's likely the same BSOD as you haven't reported being successful with any attempt to rectify the situation.
