In theory no, but I'm sure people will find a way around it... I'd recommend a clean install once RTM comes out though. It's the last time you should be installing for a while, so reason stands that the time spent will be worth it to avoid the possible problems...

Are you sure you would want to upgrade?

You would likely have to buy a Win 7 Ultimate upgrade. Wouldn't be happier with a cheaper Win 7 Home Premium?

dman4x4,
Welcome to SevenForums, No It is not a stupid question. The same thing is in a few people's minds. The popular answer will be no, clean install only period. Why, because that way you will not have any old code or bits of buggy stuff in your install that may or may not be a problem for you. I intend to do a clean install for this reason. However I will be backing up my files and writing down all my tweeks so I can get my new install back to what it was. A very good OS with no problems at all for me. Hope this may have help you. lm

If you are going from 7264 I ee no reason why it wouldn't be possible to upgrade, even if it needs a slight work around.
The argument for a clean install does stand though. Saying that though on one of my machines i wll be doing an upgrade for sure.

I have had very good luck with upgrade installs, at least going from build to build of W7, although I agree in principle with the general opinion that a clean install is preferable. But these upgrades from build to build (not from Vista to 7) have been going so well and without serious issue that I'm probably going to give it a try (going from 7264 to RTM (Ultimate)) and see how it works out. I figure if I'm not satisfied with the results and overall snappiness, I can always still do a clean install.
