Hi,
I use some public dns for internet access.
Now, I want to know, the dns server location of the middle server thro which you are currently connected from the public dns main server.
I hope that you understand.
Please also let me know the public dns who will give the server near to me for fast internet experience

Hi, Samuria, thanks for some clues.
I checked the google dns and it shows as the fastest to me on checking and scanning.
It gives the 8.8.4.4 highest score than 8.8.8.8 regular one.
But it may be possible to capture the geolocation of the mid server of the public dns.
when software could capture the trace route path , it may be possible I think.
It will be very useful for the users to know, the distance of the server.
The nearest the server, the resolving ips become quicker is my presumption. Is that not correct?
To me a faraway dns server , will take much time to ping is it not
please.

Hi, Samurai,

please explain a lilttle more
Your quote:
Its not that simple many dns have server all over the world to provide a fast rsponce you can have a local server which can be a lot slower as its rubbish
what does that mean please

Tracert will give you the IP address of all the hops your message does.

The Whois {IP address } online query should give you a data block for any specific IP

Not perfect but an option.

I vaguely recall there was an tiny free app that ran a TraceRT and converted the IP of all the hops automatically I'll have a look round and see if anyone still does anything similar

Edit

See if any of the utilities here will do the job

You can have the isp server very close but a dns server can have 1,000 of request a second and it need to update all the time so it will be slower than a dedicated server like google , opendns etc. Your isp may have 2 dns servers but Google has a million

Recent guesstimates have placed Google's server count at more than 1 million. But new data on Google's energy use suggests that the company is probably running about 900,000 servers. Googlenever says how many servers are running in its data centers.

A lot of sites are using Cloudflare for delivery of content, Including ours - they also have their own DNS service that is usually faster than Google give 1.1.1.1 Primary or 1.0.0.1 secondary a try

1.1.1.1 — the Internet’s Fastest, Privacy-First DNS Resolver

My personal router is set with the primary as 1.1.1.1 and the secondary as 8.8.8.8 to cover all eventualities ;)

A lot of DNS providers use round-robin load balancing, so the result you get checking a server now might not be the same server later.

Hi, thanks for all reply. But what I want to know, is the mid server geo locations. I have a software routercheck which checks your router and give the green red or orange status of the selected network.
Hi, Barman, it shows a term as dns configured, and then actual dns. I do not know , what is that server geo location.
Here I wish to inform that the tracert route by nirsoft software do not contain this in their trace route.
how this is possible.
Enclosed the routercheck , actual dns status
the tracert command to the same server is given below, removed the ISP server

There is a basic issue with the way that DNS works - The DNS Server eg 1.1.1.1 provides the information internally as to which route should be used, the actual DNS server could be located in multiple locations. as can any secondary DNS servers

Where that server is located is not relevant to the system due to the way that the internet is designed it was originally designed to provide communications for the US military, including during a nuclear conflict, so is a redundant system - if any node (server) is not available along the planned route, when the data is in transit it will automatically be routed to the best available alternative. Also to provide a redundant system of DNS servers the same IP address is used for multiple servers all around the planet you may be able to check the actual route.

The servers on the internet are connected to multiple other servers which are connected to multiple other servers Etc this creates a redundant network

This mesh connection method is the core of the names used - the words Net and Web we use to describe the internet are because the system resembles a fishing Net or a Spiderweb which has multiple possible ways to get from any point to any other point on the system .

When you enter an address into your browser like www.sevenforums.com the browser asks your assigned DNS how to get there. This will be the address you chose but will be the closest available DNS server with that address

There is a security factor that has to be taken into account, in the case of war attacking the dns servers used could be a way to break communications this is prevented by use of a mesh of servers and by not advertising their physical location

Any of the items on the list I provided above, or search online for Visual Tracert, will give you an historical route used to contact a particular online location but eg ten applications, could give ten different routes, the DNS server locations shown will also likely be a generic location for a master DNS that is actually located at multiple locations

To give you an example of the DNS server for Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 has locations at many locations these are shown here ...

The Cloudflare Global Network | Data Center Locations | Cloudflare UK

everytime you make a request for DNS route by entering an address into a browser you will connect to the closest available server itn this network of servers, the system will also favour the fastest available route

This check and routing will be repeated in every server in the chain so you can imagine the number of variations possible for a request from yourself in India trying to connect to Microsoft in the USA. (of course Microsoft has multiple servers in many locations so you may connect to one of them also, possibly in India or any location that has the data you want

The whole of the internet is a huge, complicated, and amazing achievement, and can be considered as the greatest and largest ever construction in human history

Edit
Looking at Google's servers, for india they may not be the best option, they tend to go for a smaller number of larger server farms and they are not well represented in Asia

Discover our data center locations

I may be an idea to try cloudflare or even an India based DNS provider, ( a local provider will still use google, Cloudflare, or other servers when they have not got access to an area directly due to the rules of the DNS service - try any alternative for a week or two to see if you get an improvement to what You want to see

Hi, Barman, I am very much impressed by your explanations on this. I read and read and am amazed at your point of explaining it correctly.
Your quote The whole of the internet is a huge, complicated, and amazing achievement, and can be considered as the greatest and largest ever construction in human history explain them all.
your quote: The servers on the internet are connected to multiple other servers which are connected to multiple other servers Etc this creates a redundant network explain further about how the line of datas are stored in servers.
This clears the doubt, that they are all inter related like spider web.
So, what is the real meaning of the routercheck actual dns server?
Can I take it to mean that when I click the router check application the relevant button to check or scan, the dns server at that time is captured by that application and gives us as actual dns server for that request and actually
there is no term of actual dns server.
Am I correct please say barman,
And also , if i click another application, online application, then it will be routed from some other servers apart from the one captured as actual dns as given by the routercheck applications.
Query is answered from multiple servers to an individual based on the dns , settings by the servers.
The actual dns server concept confused me , so I asked the question.
So , in the end , can I say that there is really no actual dns server .Is that correct
The explanation given by you, is very pointed and i thank you once again.

I think what they mean with Actual here is the real address of the DNS server that held the record, a Whois search on that IP will give you more information, at least who the address is assigned to - location information is unlikely to be included

Nerd things out with local DNS caching. Acrylic DNS Proxy

Read everything! If there are issues you may need to flush the cache. YMMV.

If your Internet speed is alright, then I doubt a DNS change will help. I've been using OpenDNS since 2008 for security and privacy with the blocking of certain domains and what not.

You can REALLY take things up a notch with Pi-hole, Docker, and IFTTT (If This Then That). I'm in the process of using IFTTT with ADS-B Exchange. HEHE. BLOCK EVERYTHING w/ PiHole on Docker, OpenDNS and IFTTT - YouTube

will the actual dns server change , if i browse to a different request of site
From your discussion, I think yes, the request will be keeping on changing.
I saw a site, which gives geo location of the ip, but if this will change then there is no use in knowing things.
the term as you say, is to the record for fetching the router stat program. correct?

DNS is NOT the same as a web server IP. In fact, web servers can use load balancers and reverse proxies which complicate things. Networking knowledge is required for such stuff. But again, you can't get a Geo-IP for a DNS server. Even with a normal web server IP, it's kinda hit and miss. Usually the country and state/province are correct, zooming in closer is a lot harder. I use a website that shows a result from several different IP-Geo location APIs to help narrow in on the location. The most hits generally wins, but cell phone Internet IPs can REALLY be hit and miss.

Again, you won't be able to Geo-locate a DNS server. Use that tool from GRC and pick the best DNS server. That's all you can do.
