In the absence of info:

Windows based CPU testing:
Prime95
IBT (Intel Burn Test)

Let Prime95 run for a couple of hours. If a core 'worker' stops or you have an app crash, system freeze or BSOD it's hardware related.

5-10 Passes for IBT. Again, any app crash, system freeze or BSOD it's hardware related.

These create a lot of heat so you'll need to monitor your temperatures:

Core Temp
Now installs InstallIQ, so watch the install carefully - it trys to install a lot of crapware so pay close attention during installation. The app itself is great, installation - PITA these days. Create a restore point prior to installation just in case you miss some of the sneaky crap. It's not malware or anything like that, but it is useless crap.

Alternatively there is HWINFO

Non-Windows Memory Tester:

Memtest86+

Burn the iso to a bootable blank CD, or USB. let it run for a few passes. You want to see zero errors. if there are any errors, then it's either incorrect Ram timings, bad ram module or faulty DIMM slot.
