Honestly? I'm sick of dealing with it. I uninstalled Blackberry Desktop Manager (I don't even use it anymore because updating my phone is a pain), but I'm wondering how to tell if anything else needs java. Is there a program that will scan my computer and tell me what programs need Java? thanks.

I think the easiest way to tell if something needs Java is to simply try running the program or app. If it needs Java you'll get a prompt. For example, I use Opera as my browser. If I try to access the official US Time website at time<dot>gov I get this prompt. I uninstalled Java bout a year ago and I haven't missed it or needed it.
I'm not aware of any other software that can scan your computer to see if installed programs or apps need Java.

That would mean launching every program. And you can't guarantee that the application will check for java before running, or will malfunction in an immediately noticeable way.
i think just searching for .jar should do it. But I'll know when one day I open a program I haven't used for a while or use a program differently and it breaks.
