Is there a way to block FLV player from popping up?

Is there a way to block FLV player from popping up? It pop up when you might visit a questionable but not illegal video playable website. Especially websites that have a lot of ads. I done all the malware test, so I am not infected. It strange that it only happens with firefox 30.0

I have mine uncheck. I wonder if background service has been comprised, remember Mozilla is open source.

FLV is for flash video which is what most internet video is. What, exactly, do you mean it pops up?
You don't need it and likely came along with something you downloaded and installed. Remove it.

No, it is the pop-up to trick you to install the flv player, and I don't fall for that. It makes me wonder if those sites that have the flv player are legit, at the least the site maybe questionable. I even seen some site look like an official news site but still open a pop-up asking you to install the flv player.

I also have Microsoft security essentials.

MSE isn't much protection, just the bare minimum. I know what you mean now and the popup happen with some file host site, which are dodgy, and warez/hack site, maybe Pirate Bay if they are still up. They are built-in the website and activate with any click usually. Stay away from them or just dismiss the popup. We have had people get popups which can't be dismissed without a hard shut down and end up with some ransom ware or fake anti-virus.

Sure the sites may be legal but they aren't reputable at all.

I don't believe any antivirus is enough now days,
I would strongly suggest picking up a life time license of mbam while they last

Real time protection of mbam will help any antivirus and is about the only thing everyone can agree on
