Is there any way of getting sound levels to be similar for voice chat?

I use a VOIP web based service (Textnow) which is great except when I call out and its ringing its about 3 times louder than when someone talks. The VOIP provider refuses to fix it. So I was wondering if there's any way volume levels can be automatically adjusted. I've tried going to Control Panel, Sound, the device, Properties, Advanced, and tried checking "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority" but neither makes any difference. I'm pretty sure I've seen this feature offered somewhere before.

Maybe there's an audio program I can run when I'm making calls that can automatically adjust the volume?

I wonder if other people have this same issue where the ringing of outgoing calls is so loud?

Hi,

You could try enabling "Loudness Equalization" in Windows.

Under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound, right click your audio device, select properties > Enhancements, then turn on the option "Loudness Equalization".

You can also change the release time by clicking "Settings" inside the properties > Enhancements tab:
The release times determines how long the computer waits before raising a quiet sound, or lowering a loud sound. The shortest setting is instantaneous, while the longest takes one minute before the computer adjusts the volume.

I really thought Loudness Equalization would help but I think its more for fast occurring differences in volume levels. Maybe not for several seconds. It didn't seem to make any difference at all for voice chat. But I'll play with it more.
