Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It is a good deal and it will be fine for video editing in my opinion.

In view of the 30% price reduction you might just want to check to see if it's one of Dell's refurbished machines.

If you decide to buy it you could fit an SSD drive with the money you've saved and put the operating system on it - you'll get a huge speed boost with what is already good specs.

I agree with seavixen32. It would cost close to that to build it. Just make sure the PSU is large enough for future expansion.

If you link us to the site you're using, we can point out an SSD, which as seavixen has already said will greatly improve your performance.

As you're spending over £1,500 on this machine trust me you'll benefit for the small added price.

You will save money if you but the SSD somewhere else and install it yourself. Plus, you will be able to choose the one you want.

Hi, I initially visited the Dell website, decided to give them a call instead. The above quote was sent to me via email. Pardon me, but what do you mean by a SSD?

Solid State Drive. It will make your computer boot in less than 30 seconds and apps open instantly.

Interesting. I will definately look into this. Can you point me to an example of one? Thanks

I know this is a US site, but it can give you some ideas. For what you use them for you don't need a large one. It is usually used only for the OS and apps. Everything else is on your regular hard drive. I use an 80GB drive and use less than half the space.

You could add Firewire with a PCI-E X1 card. (The port would be in the rear I/O panel, which can be inconvenient.)

Alternately, why not assemble one yourself? I'm not in the UK, but at amazon.co.uk, a shopping list:

I7-2600k
Asus A8Z68-V Pro
16 GB Corsair Vengeance memory kit (4X4GB)
GTX 560 ti
Gigabyte Triton 180 case (not sure it takes a 9" long graphics card like the 560 ti)
Corsair 600CX power supply
WDC Caviar Black 2TB HD
Microsoft Windows Home Premium X64 OEM

can be had for £1000. (You could go with a cheaper graphics card, if you're not planning on gaming. You might like a nicer case, or a heftier power supply.) You wouldn't get the racy (?) Alienware case, or a system level warranty.
