Hello everyone I have been searching for sometime now on how to do this. Is it possible to change the color of the text without changing themes or using third party themes? I don't mind using resource hack if I have to do it this way. Thanks for any reply's

Er .... no!

What do you mean no. you can do it via 3rd party themes and such why can't this be done otherwise. If people can make a theme to change the color of the text (see pic) there has got to be a way. You can change the background color via C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll -> bitmap -> and alter 632 and 633 using resource hack. The text color has got to be in there some where. Do any of you Windows 7 experts know where this is at?

Why ask the question if you think you already know the answer?

Ok. To the best of my knowledge and belief it is not possible to change this particular setting in this particular panel using a simple resources hack. That better?

Try using the link below to change Windows fonts. Doesn't look very difficult to me. ;)

^^^^^ :sarc: To the best of my knowledge you have no idea what your talking about. :sarc: ^^^^^

chev65 that method will work if your using the Windows Classic Theme, However it will not work with an Aero Theme. I apologize that I didn't make this part clear. I am trying to do this using an Aero theme. If all else fails, which I hope it doesn't I will use that method. :D

Arc thanks for the link to the tut. I will try this out for sure and see if it works on Windows 7. Thanks for the reply.

And yet I was right. You wanted to change it using a resources hack (or so you said) and you can't. The only way to do it is the much riskier editing of files outside the resources area. The answer to your question, as you posed it, is still no.

If you want to take a chance on the codes in Windows 7 being at the exact same offset as they are in Vista, be my guest!

Dude first off nothing is impossible especially when it comes to Windows. And as far as the code being exactly the same might not be the case but I am willing to bet that its pretty close with some minor variations.

And to answer whs's question. I just get really bored with the same old look all the time. I try to find something challenging to do from time to time and this is one of those things. But dunfiddlin doesn't seem to understand something like this. If I mess my OS up its just a matter of restoring my backup and I am back in business. So I am not really to concerned about that. Either way I will eventually figure this out so dunfiddlin can eat his words. :D

Hmm, I understand. You like "experimenting". Nothing wrong with that. I suggest you be nice with dunfiddlin - he is just another member expressing his opinion.

Whatever it is , I can tell that it is hex editing that can change that colors .
