Solved Is this SSD worth buying?

The egg has an OCZ 120GB SSD with the Sandforce controller shell shocker today for ~$80 (no rebate).
Does anyone know if this a reliable SSD, or is it more problems than than it's worth?

I haven't seen a 120GB SSD priced this low, but i haven't been keeping up on hardware prices and reviews lately.
From what I know, Intel, Corsair, and Samsung are the recommended SSD brands for reliability...

Bargin! I have the older Vertex 2 60GB and its been rock-solid. Intel, and Samsung definately top of the range, but for $80.......its a good deal.

I have an Agility 3 that runs very well and has no issues. The Vertex 3 should be even faster. I say go for it, for $80.

Yeah, great bargain. It's got a $10 MIR on it now, so $69 after rebate. That's really cheap. I'm inches away from pulling the trigger myself and I don't really have a need for another SSD.

I just ordered it, so done deal for me...
I'm on US East Coast Time, but the purchase price shows as the shell shocker $80...i didn't expect that price till later, but...

Now, I have to figure out what to do with it :confused:

My PC's are working well, no problems...main use is HTPC and I don't re-boot often...and my current HD's are multi-boot...

I'm a "hardware junkie" and love building things - just to see if i can :D

So, right now this is a toy for me...should i build a new PC, new Win OS(s), new installs, ... :sarc:
Or, convert one of my PC's to use this SSD for the OS and programs...:sick:
My new dilemma ! :banghead:

If you have a laptop or netbook, then that would help to save battery and make it run fast, too.

That is a great suggestion, and anyone that reads this thread should consider this...
I would buy it for a laptop/netbook in a heartbeat to replace a mechanical HD.
Less heat, power, and "shock-proof"...

For what it's worth, I got the Samsung 830 128GB bare drive for $104, a little later it was down to $90 just for a few hours......I've seen that drive fluctuate a lot! If anybody is interested in the Samsung SSD, watch it and jump on it when it is around $90-100. I originally paid $160 for the Intel 520 120GB SSD, which turned out to be bad, ALONG with the replacement SSD they sent! (Apparently I have the worst luck in the history of man) Newegg said they would refund my money and I hopped on that Samsung and it is absolutely flawless so far!

I have been running the OCZ Vertex 3 120 GB in my PC for a year now and have had zero issues. I saw this shell shocker myself and was tempted to buy another, but already have another SSD in my laptop so I couldn't rationalize spending the money.
