discussed. debated. dissected. over 100 times here . maybe in the long run, yeah, 7 will overstep XP in business. just not anytime soon. probably when SP1 is released, as some statistics portray.

When an IT shop has 100s (or 1,000s) of desktops to take care of, any switch is traumatic. Couple that with learning a "new" GUI, and there's a lot of push back.

Or the IT sector will still continue to turn backwards, and shove there head up there as...s and hide from progress, "I need Antmans other Avatar for this one" so until they actually wake up and smell the 21 century, probably not.

Yes this will be the one. I wonder if 32 bit will go first, and 64 after sp1? I work with a large (2500+ desktops) and once the win 7 commercials start there are going to be plenty of influential ppl asking IT for it

Seven may be at a slight advantage due to the relative failure of vista. Because of this and the general financial situation SME companies have missed one upgrade cycle so their systems are overdue for upgrade.

As the options are basically vista or seven now for these customers take up could be good

My last company had soooo many people litterally scared of change, they didn't want anything new because they already knew how the old 1 worked. I spent most of my time training people on the use of new hardware/software and the oldskool crowd just made my brain bleed

This is how it'll go where I work too. Once the influential people start asking the switch is on. At least I feel like I will be ready thanks to Seven Forums and RTM

As far as I know the agreement from Microsoft to the OEMs to offer downgrades on their Operating systems is only valid for One level downgrade IE from windows 7 to Vista or from Vista to XP.

I have not seen any downgrade offers mentioned by the OEMs but that is something that will only happen if Microsoft and the OEM partners feel that window seven has the same issues with customers as Vista did.

XP is also of course now out of full support and only security updates are being even considered
