Is W7 indexing the CD or what...?

I have a CD with some 200 jpg's, and when I put it into my W7x64 comp, sometimes files open very slowly. It seems like W7 or Explorer thinks it must do some job before letting the real app (IrfanView in this case) open the file. See here:

When I double click 274.jpg, W7 Explorer starts doing some work as shown by the bar in the address field. And in this screen capture, that job was rather quick. At other times, I have to wait up to a minute, before the file opens. Anyone knows what goes on? And how do I stop it?

All indexing is turned off, but in Control Panel > Indexing Options, I do nothave the option to turn off indexing of the CD (which is as it should be, right?)

Not knowing what the file sizes are kinda makes it difficult to say for sure,
But yes windows does download the file and produces a thumbnail for it as well.
If you just viewing those files go into a temp folder,
If you copy and paste or drag and drop them in a new folder it would usually take the same time as simply viewing them,
Also being windows has a self defense it also scans and blocks the files to protect you if they came from a different computer.
Right click Properties/ General section on the bottom/ Unblock.

It has to be able to pull the file into memory as well as open Infran. Depending on how big and its location on the CD it can take time!

File sizes range from 51 kB to 391 kB. There is nothing about blocking in the Properties/General dialog. And strangest thing... today this problem does not show up in any way. IrfanView opens any of those files rather immediately as I double-click. And the computer was shut down (not hibernate, not standby) yesterday. Strange and annoying...

Which third party security suite do you have installed ?
Use Disk cleanup if more than one user exists on the machine use System clean up as well,

What security software are you using? If I had to guess, anti-virus was called in to scan.
