is wake on lan possible over wifi

so i have a laptop that i can control via teamviewer on my ipad but is it possible for me to have a WOL or similar setup to turn the computer on from the browser on another machine. the laptop is connected to a router via wifi and is impossible to connect via ethernet.

does anyone have any ideas

No. You cannot implement WoL on a wireless network.
