Technically I think you are. But when i called and asked the question, they assured me that it wasn't in violation and if audited by Microsoft that I would not be found in violation of the EULA. So, take that however you want.

I'm not saying you. What I have a problem with is when someone needs or whats the operating system free or cheep after they bought or built a nice computer.
I guess this is getting a little of topic because the OP said nothing about getting 7 for cheep or free it was just me going on a rant. Hope no one takes offense.

Yes, I agree. It's the one thing that they will use every time they turn on the computer. I do not use or endorse any type of software piracy. If I don't want to pay for Windows....I'm perfectly capable using a Linux OS.

However, "if" ms will allow me to buy a technet license instead and use that software in the same way I would a retail copy....than that is what I want to do.

I also duel boot with Linux. With open SuSe. I do enjoy learning a new operating system.

Thanks everybody for the replies. So if I subscribed for Technet, and downloaded Win7 Professional and MS Office for my computers, I wouldn't be violating the EULA? If I were, then I certainly wouldn't want to violate their EULA, even if it was the cheapest way to get the software.

Just don't distribute the software or product keys to others and you'll have no issues with MS.

Thanks for the notice! I will tell my parents about this, but its highly unlikely that they will go for it. They are those type of people who say "If it's not broken, don't fix it!" and don't like paying for software. Its worth a try though, but they'll probably just say that TechNet is a better deal since we get Office with TechNet.
