Hi.
Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

I have an issue, if I download zipped music files from my ISP.
The download stops and looks like finished. But it's not finished.
There are errors about the same, when I want to open the zipped file.

On my windows xp computer there is no problems. The download get finished ok, and the total content is there.

What can be wrong ?. It seems to be on the W7U computer the culprit resides.

This is what I get when downloading zipped files:

[Window Title]
Compressed (zipped) Folders Error
Contents

Windows cannot open the folder.
The Compressed (zipped) Folder 'C:\Users\PSDR\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\30PGD5XM\TDCPLAY_Queen_Absolute_Great.zip' is invalid.
[OK]

instead of choosing to open the file, choose to save it (select location if required) then try and open it. If compression methods unknown to widows have been used you may require a 3rd party compression app e.g. 7-Zip

I did save files too, and got this:

---------------------------
Error in packed file c:\Users\PSDR\Downloads\TDCPLAY_Queen_Absolute_Great.zip!
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

And this issue is because the file transfer is stopped due to a reason I don't know.

As mentioned it works ok in XP

As such it is not the ZIP software, that does it. More a transfer stop -I think-

Try an experiment. Download the same file in XP and in Windows 7. Run a program that generates an MD5 Hash, MD5 Sum, whatever you want to call it. I wrote a free one you can get here called MD5Hash

See if the files are identical. If so, the error is not in the download. If not identical then it is. Also it's helpful if the downloaded file is one from a site that provides the MD5 Sum for you to check.

If neither the XP download nor the Windows7 download ever match the checksum, then you've really got problems or the download site is posting the wrong checksums!

Many the check info.

First I can tell you, that the MD5 zip file from you downloaded nicely.
This was the first check.

For the file I downloaded from the music site, there is a big difference.

First the size is much much different, and as such also the MD5 sum.

I have attached here what I see.

What do you tell me now ? :D

Hi again.

Due to a slow computer, and the issue with ZIP files, I decided to reinstall Windows 7 here.

After I dowonloaded a new music album for my ISP.

It acted as before with stopping before the file was downloaded.

I then went into a site, where I donwloaded 10 ZIP files without a hick!.

This morning I started up a notebook I have with Windows 7 on it.
I downloaded an album here, and it finished it ok, and I could unpack the album.

Now I'm really confused.

Could it be something on the computer in focus ?
