I just got a new Sager NP8170 and I'm having an annoying issue with Aero...my desktop PC does not have this issue. The diagonal lines that appear on windows when 'peek at dekstop' is activated on mouse over, appear all over the screen instead of only appearing on windows that are actively open. These lines are also visible under the bottom taskbar 100% of the time. Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Would you mind uploading a picture.
Things that quickly come to my mind are, do windows updates since this is a new system.
Update the graphics driver.
Restart Aero view by enabling and disabling.

Thanks for the replies. Windows is completely updated and it is running the latest ATI catalyst drivers. I have tried toggling Aero on and off...several times. Jerry, yes, those are the lines. I only see them when I hover over the peek button, however, they are always showing through the bottom task bar.

That is part of Reflections that have been put in the Windows I have posted a screenshot which also shows them around the border of Windows Explorer and yes it does show on the taskbar to.
Capture9.PNG

If you want to get rid of them I can make a custom theme for you that will remove them.
If you are using the default aero theme I can change that for you, using Windows Style Builder and post it here in a zip folder.
If you are using a custom theme you will need to ask the theme maker. It's not cool to change someone else work.
&
This will be a custom theme and you will need to do 1 of these 2 ways of Enabling custom themes for it to work.

Or

All I need from you is a name to call it.
Let me know.

Thanks Jerry. This is exactly what is going on. I am using only the default Aero theme. Is there anyway I can go in and remove the reflections myself? What I find odd is that my desktop PC running Win7 doesn't exhibit this.

Actually I found out how to disable it. They registry key ColorizationGlassReflectionIntensity is what controls the glass reflections.

Sure thing. HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3323967552-898755753-1911293622-1000\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM
You can alternately just do a registry search for 'ColorizationGlassReflectionIntensity'

By changing the dword value to '0', the reflections are disabled.

Yea, that's it. Dunno how those numbers got in there when I copied the key. You will change the value to '0' to disable it.
