Issue with media (mp3, dvd sound, playing)

Hi!

I have an HP laptop that I purchased over a month ago and the other day it was playing music files just fine, however now it isn't. The sound devices are working properly and I updated the drivers and still no go. I can hear music online as well as little sounds from the mouse and etc. Yet whenever I try to play my music from my computer's hard drive it a FAIL. I can't play it in Windows Media Player, itunes, media center or anything. If anyone can offer some assistance please do!

As this recently happened, use the System Restore function and restore the PC back to a date when it did work. System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not affect (remove) any user data or e-mails.

Try re-installing the audio driver.
