Hello,

I have an HP Elitebook 850 G1 with the slim docking station running Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit. Connected to the docking station I have a display port to DVI converter that connects to monitor 1. I dont use the laptop display while its on the dock so the laptop is closed. Connected to the dock I also have a StarTech USB32DVIEH adapter that connects to monitor 2. My problem is that when I lock the PC, monitor 1 will display the lockscreen (as expected) but the monitor 2 will basically take a "screenshot" of whatever windows/etc was on the screen and show it while locked. Monitor 2 usually has Outlook opened on it so in this example the lock screen shows whatever was on that screen when I locked it. The content doesnt refresh but still, its a pain since now I have to minimize anything on monitor 2 before locking it or basically someone could come by and see it. I think this is a driver problem but ive updated as many drivers as I can to the latest. I tried a different USB video adapter (Sabrent USB-DH88) and it didnt have the lock screen issue but I couldnt keep using it since anything on that screen was very laggy. The StarTech adapter works fine except for this lockscreen issue.

Any ideas?

I looked up your docking port and it has two DisplayPort ports. Is it possible to use another DisplayPort to DVI adapter on it? Or can you use the docking port's built in VGA adapter on one of your monitors?

That's all I can think of. There are DisplayPort adapters which can split the signal and allow both ports to be used at once.

Much better since I got fiber, but still way overpriced.

There is VGA and then the display port. I guess I could use the VGA connector but this wouldnt be the best option. I dont think this is dock related. If I take everything and plug it directly to the laptop it does the same thing.

No. I didn't think it was the dock, I thought it was the Startech adapter giving you the problem. What I was suggesting was to use another (second) video port on the dock instead of the Startech adapter.

I see that the dock you are talking about does have two display ports. I guess I have the older slim dock with just one. The 2013 model is on order. Hopefully I can use the two display ports without issue. Its still weird that the startech adaptors have this issue. I tried to chat with their support but after a while I gave up. Ill try again when I have time.
