Issues installing Office 2007 (Windows 7)

I've just purchased a laptop (without a cd-drive) and wanted to install Office.

As a student I have free access to Office 2007 (Microsoft Office Suite 2007 Service Pack 1 32-bit (English) - MSDNAA).

I'm currently using Office Starter 2010.

Now when I download the iso file, using winRAR I am able to extract the files but when I try to install I get the following:

Sq76t.png

This is then followed by the message: "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system".

I've looked online for a starter version of Office 07 (or something like that) to no avail. I've also attempted to "burn" the iso to a usb stick and install it that way but again with no success.

I'd be grateful for some help as I have no idea of where to go from here.

Welcome to the forum,

What you are trying to install is just the service pack, that's why you are getting that message.

That sounds very correct to me.

By the way - I also download heaps of stuff from MSDNAA as a
student and from what I believe, they stopped allowing FREE
office suite copies in 2008 (or thereabouts). Even back then
it was free or you could pay $5 to have it prepped onto disk
(I was in the full newb class back then).

As derikimo said, you have downloaded and are trying to install the service pack,
which yes, at MSDNAA is available for download, but if you look a bit closer at the download
page when you are signed in with your account you will see that there is no
download for the Office Suite (any version)

Yeah, I can't see any office suite either, a few add ons (visio, groove, access etc..)
The OS's are the best thing on there.

2 right

I got a copy of just about every OS going - well everything up
to the Pro versions anyways. Awesome really, I got MS 2003
and 2008 servers but I really needed them to put into VM's doing networking
(DNS, DHCP, DMZ's etc etc etc) setups for practice. Also the availabilty
of 32 and 64 bit versions - saved a lot!!

I guess MS want to give this stuff away so students can learn how to use it
and therefore recommend it for use in future projects should anyone be willing
to hire me and/or other learner drivers ;)

iceyd - you can still get a cheap copy of Office suite ($99) as a student through
the "It's not cheating" site found here (Microsoft site):
Microsoft Office Discount for Students - It's Not Cheating

Note that you can also upgrade versions of Win 7 here and other stuff- but considering
that you can get Win 7 Pro 32 or 64 bit for free through MSDNAA then there's
no need really.

Grr I was hoping not to have to pay for it. My last laptop was a refurb and came with it for free. Thanks for the replies.

I have Office 2007 installed on Win 7 Home Premium x64, but have never heard of that error.

Is this a home built PC?

What type of Windows and Office disks are you using? Store bought? OEM? Retail? Burned download?

The decktop pc is brand new Acer (TigerDirect). I came with Windows 7 Home Premium installed.
I am trying to install my legal Office Standard 2007 on it.

There is no other (trial) or otherwise Office installed on the HD.

Thanks,
Rick.

Found a site that supposed to have clean dw20.exe dwtrig files. DL them and install got about half way when more cannot find files popped up, ( standard.ww ose.exe and setup.xml ). Obvious install failed at that point. I have tried to clean any Office files and now install won't start at all. I've installed this on 4 plus machines since I bought the disk with no problems ever. Grrrrrr.

Rick.

Well, out of frustration I got out the flash drive back-up of the disk. Installed Office 2007 with no problems. I guess my original disk has failed. Thank goodness for a back-up.
All is well,
Thanks,
Rick.
