Solved Issues with game resolution after running on VGA out.

I recently began to use my VGA out on my laptop, as I found I had a spare VGA cable and our 40" TV in the living room supports it. I decided to make use of it, and hitched up my laptop, and used it for mostly gaming. I've found, however, that now that my laptop is not running on the television, if I try to run a game, it runs it at the same resolution it showed up on my laptop screen during the time I had the output set to the television [a small block on the screen]. I've tried changing the screen resolution, and a few other things, but to no avail. My laptop is currently running Windows 7 [recently upgraded, and haven't run into any issues otherwise]. My laptop is a Satellite L355D-S7825. If you've run into this problem, or know how to fix it, please let me know. :(

I don't know or think it will make much difference, but the games I am trying to run are World of Warcraft and Counter Strike: Source. I have messed with the video settings within them. Whenever I change the resolution however, the game merely changes size within the small box that it shows up in within my screen. I want to be able to keep a low resolution so the game doesn't lag, and even at the highest resolution, it still shows within a box anyways... really needing to get this fixed. D:

Does the TV have settings? If so, please check them and try to make it 16:9 and the resolution it supports best. Also, does the screen size change when you are not playing?

No, what I am saying is, it plays becautifully on the Television. The screen fits it, and everything [after I've adjusted the TV's resolution]. When I unplug it, I find that my laptop screen its self does what I explained. I've found, however, that if I change my laptop screen resolution [not in the game, in the OS] it also has the same effect, where there is extra blacked out space all around it, and the screen forms a little box display in the center.

Sorry my bad. go to rightclick desktop -> screen resolution -> press detect, without the TV connected. Now use the recommended settings (resolution, refresh rate etc.)
Check if it works!

I did, but no such luck. It's already set to the recommended settings [I did that once before] D:
