Issues with IE8 and bing

I may be on the wrong forum so if so, could someone direct me to the proper source...?
I use the bing main page as a home page to surf in IE8 on Windows 7 x64. When I open the home page it expands to fill "almost" all of my desktop. Is there a way to get it to fill completely...? The page is only about 3-4 mm shy of filling the screen completely. If I hit the 'fill screen' square in the upper right corner, it will enlarge to fill. It won't stay that way when I return to the home page next viewing.

Hope I've explained it properly...!

Thanks for reading,
Laurie, old copier tech in Winnipeg

I use the red X to close it and it opens the next time in the expanded view.
Are you closing it that way?

There are several different methods you can try. If any of them work for you, please let us know which one:

1. Open an IE webpage with links on it. Drag the 4 corners until the page is maximized. (Don't use the Maximize icon "1" in upper right corner).
Choose a link on that webpage you opened, and open that link by right-clicking that link, and choosing: Open in a new window.
Drag the four corners on that 2nd window until that page is maximized. (Again, don't use the Maximize "1"Icon in upper-right corner).
Close the 1st window using the X in upper-right corner. Now close the 2nd window. Both windows should re-open maximized.
If that doesn't work, repeat the above steps, but when closing both windows, hold Ctrl and Shift keys while clicking the X to close them.

OR

2. Open Internet Explorer Properties, go to Shortcut, and under the Run section select: Normal Window.

OR

3. Open Windows Explorer and Maximize it using the "1" icon.
Hold down the SHIFT key and click on the X to close the window.
The system should remember to maximize it the next time you open the window.

OR

4. In the Start search pane, type: Explorer. Right click: Windows Explorer. Go to: Properties, and Select: Open maximized.

Well, I tried all the above and nothing works...!!!? I also have Firefox(sorry), and it opens FULL screen every time. Also, when I try to maximize the bottom of the page using the double-ended arrow, the screen pops back to its original smaller size...??? So, there is always a gap around all 4 sides of any page I open where you can see a smidge of the desktop wallpaper. I made sure I hit the "apply" box after trying each properties trick. Hmmmmmm...this is weird...no...??

I'm sorry the first suggestions didn't work for you. Why don't you try these 2 suggestions, and take a look at this tutorial. How To Open A Program In Minimized, Maximized or Normal Window Good luck!

Maximize your window size by dragging each of the 4 edges of the window all the way out to the edges of the screen. Then hold down the Alt key and press the "X" close button. Next time you open that link it should open to the maximized size, the way it was when you closed it!

OR

Maximize your window size by dragging each of the 4 edges of the window all the way out to the edges of the screen. Then, while holding the Ctrl + Shift keys, close it by clicking File, Close. You might have to do it a few times to make it learn. If this doesn't work, try again, but this time, still holding the
Ctrl + Shift keys, close they maximized window using the X icon.

Maybe it's just bing ,,,,?
Change it to google.com home page ....see if it open normally ...
If it does ...something is whacking with bing ...
