Cool! I don't have any issues with the current iTunes except for the occasional lock-up. Maybe this'll fix that.

This machine was given to me when my dad bought a new computer. I keep throwing upgrades at it and it keeps on ticking. Think I've done everything to it that can be done outside a PSU upgrade so I can run an even BETTER GPU.
yeah, I'll wait about 2-3 weeks and make sure that this isn't as screwy as it was before.

My rig smegging rules!
Hi all, first time poster here.

I built myself a new Windows 7 64-bit rig just last week and had zero success getting iTunes 64-bit (9.2.1) to run. It would consistently freeze on launch despite numerous reinstalls and under every imaginable Startup configuration. I ultimately ended up installing 9.0.2 which has thus far been stable.

I did A LOT of searching for a solution (being that much of my music library is handcuffed to iTunes and my iPods) and was somewhat surprised to find that compatibility issues are so prevalent. Anyway, if you are having issues with the latest release, I highly recommend rolling back to save yourself a lot of time and grief.

Cheers,
MB

Hi Mike, welcome to Windows 7 Support forums,
Using Itunes in 64 bit installer on a 64 bit platform is a bit touchy, since you attempted an initial install I suspect you have some files still there and its causing a re-install issue. Also remeber that the 64 Itunes is for the installer only, the actual Itunes product is still x86 and you will see it in your x86 folder.
SInce you already have a working version its up to you whether you want to muck with it.
If you do perform the following steps:
  1. Remove all Apple Software from the hard drive including quicktime.
  2. Download Itunes x64 vrsion installer for windows 7 x64 OS anywhere on your hdd you like.
  3. Locate Itunes installer and right click on it and you will see a drop down menu and halfway down you will see "RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR" left click on it and begin the installation process.
  4. Once installed import your music libraries and you should be good togo.
