iTunes and the internet

Okay, so I don't believe this is a repost (I saw plenty of iTunes threads, but none pertaining to this specific problem), but I apologize if it is.

Anyway, I'm running 64-bit Windows 7 and everything seems to be working fine for the most part. I had some sound issues at first that were resolved by changing the default sound card, and then everything seemed fine until I decided to USE my sound. I can open iTunes and it runs just fine with no problems, but when I start playing music, my computer can't access my local network anymore (much less the internet). When I access the Network and Sharing Center, the problem fixes itself (provided I have closed iTunes), but the internet simply will not function while iTunes is playing music. It runs just fine as long as iTunes is running but not playing anything. I have insured that it is the 64-bit editions of iTunes, but beyond that, I'm out of ideas. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, quick update: It turns out that pretty much anything that uses sound will cut access to the internet. Flash videos, YouTube, etc.
