Itunes are using all my cpu

hi
i have a bit of a problem.
i have installed itunes because i would transfer some of my music liberary to my buddys ipod but it wont even syncronize,and i have tryed to leave it alone for almost 3 hours,and nothing happens besides it(itunes)uses all my cpu but only half of my ram,i should mention that i have 4 gb ram,can someone please help us,we do not have a clue of what is happening

EDIT:
i would add some rarding information because i have read online that i am not the only one with this problem,i am running mcafee total protection 2012,can that have something to do with the issue/problem?

I do notice McAffee which is a frequent cause of BSOD's and freezes, etc. I would remove and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST!
