When I had XP, iTunes never crashed - with W7, iTunes is always crashing (just now when downloadnig a new purchase)

also, I keep losing the left channel - I know it is iTunes because i've checked all connections, cables, etc.

anyone else having problems with W7 and iTunes crashing?

When I've had problems, it was because of my library getting corrupted. I fixed that by holding SHIFT after clicking the iTunes icon and following the prompt to create a new library.

Is this the latest version of iTunes you have? Try re-downloading it from iTunes.com?

You can use antique versions of I-Tunes with Windows 7 if that might help you.

The first thing I do with any I-Tunes install is to get rid of Quicktime. It is the devil.

I am using the latest version of iTunes. I like the idea of creating a new library and ditching Quick time.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will get them a try.

You can get rid of Quicktime, but you will have to use a substitute: Quicktime Alternative, available here:

QuickTime Alternative

I got disgusted with Quicktime years ago when it started trying to take over everything it could in my PC--luckily others felt the same way and Quicktime Alternative was developed.

You have to use this technique to install Quicktime Alternative:

Uninstall I-Tunes
Install I-Tunes
Uninstall Quicktime through control panel
Install Quicktime Alternative

Likewise, there is a Realtime Alternative for those of you sick of Realtime.

if you have 64 bit windows installed, Apple will give you the correct itunes installer when you go to download

Correct! I'll also add that if you have a 32-bit OS installed Itunes will offer up the 32-bit version.

Just go here - Apple - iTunes - Download iTunes Now

FYI I'm using the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 without issue.

Actually they don't.... at least when using IE8 (i don't use any other browser)

If you're using IE and running a 64-bit OS click the link I provide.... see for yourself.

Thanks

Wasn't try to argue, however when I click download from IE8 in 64bit home premium it did not download the 64bit version. Kinda weird I guess, not a big deal but it doesn't work for me
