Hey Guys
I've had this problem for a while now and it is driving me nuts
I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 and the latest iTunes (10.something!) Everytime I play a song in my iTunes I get the following error message:

"The iTunes library file cant be saved. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

I have taken ownership of all the iTunes library files in the My Music folder and given full permissions to Admin, SYSTEM and my own account. Cant find anything on professor google  anybody got any ideas?

Thanks

I had the same issue and I found out that it was due to the corrupt user profile. I created a new user profile (admin rights) and it worked fine. Try it and let us know if it works for you.

I've had this occur before. If I recall correctly, I just rebooted, deleted the library file (library.itl, I believe), and then told it to use a backed up version (note: if your library changes a lot, you'll be missing files, but I don't, so I wasn't).

Thank you all for the help. I seem to have found an answer to my problem. I noticed that there were duplicate files of iTunes Libray: "iTunes Library (1).itl" and "iTunes Music Library (1).xml". So, I moved them both to the desktop. There were also multiple temporary files, so I moved "Temp File", "Temp File.tmp", and "Temp File 1.tmp" to the desktop. The was a file, "Temp File 2.tmp", which I could not move to the desktop. After doing this, I relaunched iTunes and no longer get the message that the Library cannot be saved. How the duplicate files were created is beyond me. So, at least for now it is working. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

An alternative to iTunes I use and would highly recommend is Media Monkey.
I no longer use iTunes . . .
