I recently had an incident after I restarted firefox, the addon window popped up and showed that java has been installed and enabled. I then looked at control panel uninstall window and there it was java installed(94MB). Now how could I have not noticed a 94MB big file to have been downloaded and installed itself. MS update is turned off, Firefox updates are all have been turned off and I can't come up with a way to explain this. I did install limewire and ran online scan applet today other than that I don't know this happened. Any explanations or time to format windows 7?? lol Yeah recently that has been my attitude.

I did install limewire

Limewire is java based, so it was most likely installed when you installed Limewire.

I doubt that it has anything to do with this, but I had Windows Update set to download, but not install updates, unless I chose to do so. There were two updates downloaded, but not installed, when I had to shutdown the computer. I have the Start Menu set to display the Restart button, instead of Shutdown, but when an update is pending, the Shutdown replaces Restart and displays a yellow triangle on it. I don't think that I have ever opted to shutdown with updates pending before, and was surprised when they started installing on prior to shutdown, without me intervening. I have now changed the settings so tha it neither download or installs updates automatically.

Lime Wire uses Java, its just like flash, =, its not going to kill you, but I would run Antivirus as lime wire does tend to get viruses some times,

Java

Hi there,

When ever you install limewire it will install java cos it runs on java. If you uninstall limewire it will cripple limewire.

If you dont want java you can uninstall limewire and java and use utorrent instead from the following link:
Download - Torrent - a (very) tiny BitTorrent client

Even with your previous Windows updates settings, you can stop the forced install at shutdown with either of the following ways:

1) One can just press [Ctrl ] + [Alt ] + [Delete ] and then choose the Shut down option, and the system will shut down without installing any updates.

2) Navigate to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Update in the Group Policy editor.

Double-click Do not display “Install Updates and Shut Down” option in Shut Down Windows dialog box in the Settings section of the Group Policy editor.

Select Enable and then click OK to save the changes.

Now the ‘Install Updates and Shut Down’ will not appear as a choice in the Shut Down Windows dialog box, even if updates are available.
