I think that's what this update 20 addresses, if I'm not mistaken. Update 19 just came out a couple weeks ago, so the fast manner in which 20 came out is apparently to plug this flaw.

It normally uninstalls the old version but I found it sometimes leaves behind old Firefox plugins so I now make sure it is clean before installing the new version.

No problem on the few that I save the logins and passwords. Most of my sites I never save the logins and passwords for security reasons.

I dislike messing with Java, because it seems tha something always goes wrong with the installation. I installed JDK 20 in the same location that I had Java Standard 16, and it appeared to be okay, until it started to install JRE, and it popped an error 1723, saying that some dll for the install wasn't found and terminated, but still said that JDK installed sucessfully.

I then went to the Java Console in the Control Panel, and selecting it produced another error, saying that the application wasn't found. Apparently, it isn't totally broken, because the puzzles still work on jigzone.com, but I would prefer that it be right.

Before installing the update, the download page said that it didn't detect JRE on my machine, but their download information said that this update included both JDK and JRE. I'm confused as to what to do next?

Ya I had problems too. I found out that an older version of Java was installed in the "Programs File (x86) folder while the updated version was in the "Programs Files" folder. I ended up using Total Uninstall and JV16 Powertools to get all the older and newer updated software cleaned out of my computer. Once that was done, I freshly installed the 32 bit run time environment (JRE) version of Java software and everything is working like it should now. I probably at some time accidentally installed the 64 bit version of java.

I get "automatic updates" and I got a message I needed to install Java 6 v20, so I started. Got to the ready to uinstall screen and said I already had this version installed, want to replace it? I said no. If it's already installed, why would I get an automatic update message? This has happened twice in the past week.
