I have encountered this issue on my own listed W-7 home Premium Dell, and on an acquaintances similarly equipped 2010 vintage HP lap top.I have searched the threads found here and elsewhere, but both computers cheerfully ignore any repair efforts.
Two sites that are guaranteed to have issues are Ikea and Domino's Pizza. The problem has just appeared recently. Is it a change at those sites, or a change in Java? The latest Version 7 update with patches for security issues has also been tried to no avail.
Remember folks, I know just enough about what I'm trying to do, to be dangerous. :)

Are you sure this is a Java issue and not JavaScript? These are two different things with JavaScript being a component of whatever browser you're using. Java is something you would have to download.

How is JavaScript different from Java?

If this is actually a JavaScript:Void(0) error then you're possibly looking at one of two usual issues. Either your browser has become damaged or corrupt (possibly due to an add-on or plug-in) or the website you're visiting wasn't coded correctly. This Microsoft article may offer a solution.

How to troubleshoot script errors in Internet Explorer

But it's also possible that this is a rootkit infection trying to hijack your browser.

Couple of free products you might consider using to try to rule out rootkits or other malware. No anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time (if there was such a thing we'd all be using it.) So the more scans you run that come back "no malware detected" the greater the probability your computer is malware free.

Malwarebytes

ESET Online Scanner

Kaspersky TDSSKiller (Download link in Step 1)

SuperAntispyware

MalwareBytes and Avira have both been present in this HP G72 since I was drafted to be the caretaker of it.I will see what other root kit finding options I have here and run them.
Having performed all the steps suggested by marsmimar has done nothing to resolve the concern. :(
The quick and dirty work around that WAS performed involved installing Firefox. At least the user will be able to get where they have to , to do whatever it is they do until a solution is found for IE Nein.Keep those ideas coming. :)
