Javascript Problem - Asked to Install?

I seem to have a problem with Javascript on some sites (says I need to install it). Is it safe to go ahead and install the latest 2017 version on Win7? I see it listed on my Internet search.

Appreciate any insight (advise).

Are you sure its javascript not java? some AV blocks javascript if it thinks its dodgy

It might have been Java - where do I go with it?

We need to be sure which one JavaScript is built into most browsers so anything asking to install may be dodgey jav is another programming which is legitimate but needs to be kept up to date as it often has vunrabities

Java normall runs an update checker at start
