MucAfee hunted for murder after killing OS's for years

After a long spree of serial killing Windows 7 installations, the creator of MucAfee is finally being hunted for actual murder:

Antivirus pioneer John McAfee is on the run from murder charges, Belize police say. According to Marco Vidal, head of the national police force's Gang Suppression Unit, McAfee is a prime suspect in the murder of American expatriate Gregory Faull, who was gunned down Saturday night at his home in San Pedro Town on the island of Ambergris Caye. Details remain sketchy so far, but residents say that Faull was a well-liked builder who hailed originally from California Florida. The two men had been at odds for some time. Last Wednesday, Faull filed a formal complaint against McAfee with the mayor's office, asserting that McAfee had fired off guns and exhibited "roguish behavior." Their final disagreement apparently involved dogs.

McAfee anti virus is a paid killer. When business slows down the paid killer, (McAfee) will offer itself up for a few more killings done free and then try again to sell the paid for McAffe anti virus to continue on killing computers.

Back in the 90's I think McAfee was considered pretty good. Seems I remember quite a few companies had adopted it.

I had very good luck with it on XP when Norton was still struggling.

I used it on win 98 really good then xp same thing really good but after that went to hell

My impression is that it started dropping from favor sometime around 2005, plus/minus a year or so.

I wonder how these A/V's cannot know that they are taking such disastrous turns.

I was watching when AVG bloated up and was astounded they could be so tone-deaf that they didn't know they were the butt of much discussion about how they'd ruined themselves. Wouldn't any decent CEO grab the bull by the horns when his product is being openly ridiculed in all of the blogs and forums? Same with Spybot which also once was at the top of the heap.

Then again, it was only about a month ago I caught Kim Kommando show and she strongly recommended AVG, causing my jaw to drop. But as soon as she came back from commercial she retracted it. Apparently some of her forum moderators who she consults during the show had gotten to her. So the word doesn't always get all the way around.
