just a quick question

good day! this has nothing to do with computers but everything with math. im not a math or engineering major but i'll throw this out anyway. if i have a paper with dimensions 1.27meters x 50 meters and i want to cut it into 12inches x 18inches, how many will it make?

based on my estimate, it would make 911 pages. is this correct? and if i were to make it 8.5inches x 11inches instead of 12x18, will it make 2105 pages?

im an accounting major btw so forgive me if my computations are way off..

Hello Jaypels,

You can get a good rough estimate by using square inches from both.

The 1.27 x 100 meters = 50" x 3937" = 196850 square inches.

The 12" x 18" = 216 square inches.

The 8.5" x 11" = 93.5 square inches


196850 divided by 216 gives you about: 911.34 12" x 18" sheets of paper

196850 divided by 93.5 gives you about: 2105.35 8.5" x 11" sheets of paper

just by my rough estimation 1.27m x 50m = 50in x 1968.50394in = 98425.197in^2

then 12in x 18in = 216in^2 .... 216in^2 / 98425.197in^2 = 455.6722 pages, and thats not including if you need pages exactly 12x18.. basically that assumes you can take the scraps and paste them together

sorry! i gave you the wrong value.. instead of 1.27m x 50m, it is supposed to be 1.27m x 100m.. we also have the same style of computing the rough estimate so i guess my values are correct.
