while trying to organise my movies i accidentally lost all but one movie.

i can save some of them as they were backed up in other folders but when i try to play them on media player (which i know worked before) it comes up with an error message thst says

'Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file.'

is there anyway i can recover the lost movies ?

how can i solve the failure to play on media player issue ?

did you check the recycle bin?

if the media player cant play the file, it might be corrupt. or media player cant run that type of file

If you've accidentally deleted the files, you can use R-Studio to recover them, although the longer you use your computer, the greater the possibility of those files being lost forever, especially if the reside on your system drive (the data of the file might get overwritten by something else).

As far as playing the videos are converned, try installing the Shark007 Codec Pack. It's the first, best, and only codec pack you'll ever need for Windows 7.

I would recommend the above but be aware you cannot recover lost files and save them to the same hard drive. You will need a drive or Memory stick big enough to take them. Best bet is a separate external hard drive.IMPORTANT do not save any other data to the main hard drive until you have recovered as many of your videos as possible. If you save more data it will likely be saved over one of your videos. Then it will be lost!
