Hey folks,

Been a while since I posted here. I just got my SSD (Intel 160GB X-25M) up and running. Windows 7 installed in a breeze... Showing a 7.8 / 7.9!

HD Tune Pro: INTEL SSDSA2M160G2GC Benchmark

Test capacity: full

Read transfer rate
Transfer Rate Minimum : 162.7 MB/s
Transfer Rate Maximum : 232.7 MB/s
Transfer Rate Average : 227.9 MB/s
Access Time : 0.1 ms
Burst Rate : 195.8 MB/s
CPU Usage : 1.5%

I'm a true believer now. Upgrading your system with an SSD is a great idea.

Bill

PS - Best part about this, I got it from Intel Retail Edge. SSD was $220 (plus ship & tax)

Thanks Brink. I remember a while ago that you were going to create a tutorial for optimizing SSD's.. is there one out there?

Thanks!

Bill

Id say just uncheck indexing for the SSD, and Disable Win7s defragmenter (It should do this itself after you run the WEI though)

Id leave everything else as is, and even leave Superfetch ON.

Theres many different opinons on whether to do more or not. but i think with current SSDs this is really all that needs to be done.

I do agree, SSD is the single best upgrade you can do.
Run with it a week or so, then go to a PC with a spinning drive. Im willing to bet youll be missing the SSD 2 minutes after boot :P
